Aggie Honor System Office Responsibilities

The Aggie Honor System Office (AHSO) is charged with administering efforts to promote academic
integrity and to reduce and control academic misconduct, including the following:

  1. Administer Student Rule 20
  2. Modify existing rules and create new rules as the need arises
  3. Oversee and monitor all activities of the Aggie Honor Council
  4. Coordinate training on academic integrity/academic misconduct
  5. Coordinate all communication efforts
  6. Monitor all relevant data
  7. Assess the effectiveness of intervention strategies and recommend changes

The AHSO will house the Aggie Honor Council and its administrative location will be the Office of
the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs.

Director

A director shall be appointed by the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and will administer the
AHSO. The Director’s responsibilities include:

  1. Oversee all activities of the AHSO and Aggie Honor Council.
  2. Determine whether alleged violations should proceed to an administrative conference or a Hearing Panel.
  3. Develop and oversee ongoing assessment and evaluation of the Honor System and recommend changes as appropriate.
  4. Provide an annual report and Aassess the effectiveness of the Academic Integrity Development Program and make changes as appropriate.
  5. Report to the Honor System Advisory Committee and serve as an ex-officio member of the committee.
  6. Communicate and promote the Honor System to the Texas A&M University community.
  7. Review AHSO policies and when requested, provide reports to the Provost, Faculty Advisory Council Senate, Academic Program Council, Student Senate, and the Graduate and Professional Student Government.
  8. Serve as an ex-officio member of the Honor Council.
  9. Supervise AHSO staff members.
  10. Direct the office functions of the AHSO.
  11. Additional duties as they emerge.

Assistant Director

An Assistant Director who is appointed by the Director of The Aggie Honor System Office will
assist in the administration of the AHSO. The Assistant Director’s responsibilities include:

  1. Provide administrative support functions and assistance to the director in the planning and execution of administrative operations.
  2. Assess the effectiveness of the Academic Integrity Development Program and make changes as appropriate.
  3. Assist in the review and monitoring of policies and procedures.
  4. Educate stakeholders on policies within Student Rule 20.
  5. Communicate and promote the Honor System to the Texas A&M University community.
  6. Coordinate and communicate expectations of responsive education opportunities.
  7. Participate in training as designated by the Aggie Honor System Office Director.

Academic Integrity Administrators

Academic Integrity Administrators are appointed by the Director of the Aggie Honor System Office
and will participate in the planning and execution of office operations. The responsibilities of
Academic Integrity Administrators include:

  1. Provide support functions to faculty, staff and students.
  2. Participate in and monitor project timelines.
  3. Participate in making improvements to services, processes, and programs.
  4. Formulate, interpret, and implement operating practices.
  5. Maintain office references and resource materials.
  6. Communicate and promote the Honor System to the Texas A&M University community.
  7. Adhere to policies and carry out functions directly related to University rules and procedures.
  8. Participate in training as designated by the Aggie Honor System Office Director.

Administrative Coordinator

The administrative coordinator, appointed by the Director of the Aggie Honor System Office, will
provide administrative support to the AHSO. The responsibilities of the Administrative Coordinator
include:

  1. Be the primary administrative contact for the office; monitor and evaluate the incoming information to the AHSO.
  2. Plan and provide logistical and administrative support for meetings and hearings.
  3. Assist in resolving complex, highly sensitive, and confidential administrative matters.
  4. Provide administrative support to the Director.
  5. Coordinate AHSO events.
  6. Communicate appropriate AHSO policies and procedures.
