STUDENT APPEAL OF AN AUTONOMOUSLY HANDLED CASE
When an instructor chooses to handle a case autonomously and the student disagrees with the instructor's decision of academic misconduct or the sanction being assigned, the student may file an appeal.
The student has five (5) business days from the date of notification of the violation report and sanction by the Aggie Honor System Case Manager to submit a written appeal.
There are four bases for a student to appeal:
- Substantial new evidence not available at the time of the original finding of responsibility by the instructor
- Violation of due process rights
- The sanction is not commensurate with the violation
- The finding of responsibility is inconsistent with the facts presented by the instructor
The appeal will be reviewed by the Aggie Honor System Director to determine whether a subsequent appeal hearing is warranted.
